APIDA of USC

APIDA of USC is a community-based creative project headed by our Diversity Liason, Mythili Iyer, and Historian, Brian Park, dedicated to celebrating the shared voices of the APIDA community. By collecting stories from underrepresented voices within the APIDA community and creating a safe space for discussion and reflection, APIDA of USC aims to foster a platform of shared experiences and memories. With topics ranging from hobbies and favorite foods to more serious topics such as identity self-reflection and growth, this project ultimately bridges the gap between APIDA cultures. By upholding the four core values of D.E.I, Accountability/Respect, Transparency/Honesty, and Vulnerability, APIDA of USC strives to provide a comfortable platform of diverse storytelling.

As a storytelling platform, we uphold FOUR core values to make sure we create the safe space of discussion and reflection that we aim to build:

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion
We commit to reaching out to as diverse of a community during our outreach process so that our platform can be used as a shared space, ensuring that no voice gets left out.

Accountability
We understand our area of influence as a creative platform and take full responsibility for our role as an amplifier. Before we post your stories, we loop you in every part of the process, ensuring that your story is being told the way you want it to be told.

Transparency / Honesty
We are here to tell your story as it is. To ensure your stories are communicated authentically, none of the audio & video clips will be pieced together to make it seem like something it is not.

Vulnerability
We understand that some stories are harder to share than others. We strive to create as comfortable of a space as possible for you when you tell us your stories, and most importantly, we are here to listen.
