APASA Spotlight: Christy Zheng
Why did you apply to APASA?
The thought of being a part of an organization that was able to bring the ShibSibs and Arden Cho to USC was what first drew me to apply. After that, I realized I wanted to become a voice for the APA community and APASA was the perfect organization for me.
Favorite APASA memory so far:
Cooking Filipino food with Patty, Richelle, Jaehee, Catherine, Jen, and Leon while jamming out to some nostalgic 5SOS, Fall Out Boy, and All Time Low!
A significant cultural milestone for you:
When Lana Condor stared in To All the Boys I've Loved Before and became mainstream not just among young Asian American females but to teenagers worldwide. I cried watching both movies because it was so surreal to see someone that looked like me in Hollywood being the main character in a rom-com.
What does being APA mean to you?
Being APA means being a melting pot of cultures: getting McDonald's one night and Hot Pot on another (but also having boba both nights).
If you could plan any event at USC, what would it be?
I would hold a BTS fancmeeting (with me as interviewer) :D
What is your long-term goal for APASA?
I hope for every student at USC to know of APASA and understand our objectives and goals. I want us to reach and help become a voice for as much of the APA community, not just on campus but in the surrounding Los Angeles area.
Thank you Christy!
