APASA Spotlight: Richard Huang
Why did you apply to APASA?
The community that APASA has built for USC was what initially drew me; I wanted to be a part of an organization that continued to support APIDA culture and to give back to a community that had nurtured me.
Favorite APASA memory so far:
Retreat!
A significant cultural milestone for you:
Parasite, because it became the first non-English Asian film to really take off in the US!
What does being APA mean to you?
Being able to embrace my culture and my language, and how it has shaped my everyday life.
If you could plan any event at USC, what would it be?
MasterChef, but the students get to decide who wins.
What is your long-term goal for APASA?
To raise awareness and educate the general community on APA traditions and achievements. I hope that APASA continues to provide resources for those who feel ostracized, and accept everyone with open arms.
Thank you Richard!
