APASA Spotlight: Yunmi Kim
Why did you apply to APASA?
After attending APASA's Speak: Strength in Struggle event, I was drawn to apply to APASA. Those performing at the event spoke so openly and helped me realize that I'm not alone in feeling this way. Therefore, I applied to contribute to strengthening the space that APASA has created on campus.
Favorite APASA memory so far:
My favorite APASA memory so far has been Game Show Social. It was a lot of fun and I made some great friends that night.
A significant cultural milestone for you:
South Korea co-hosting and winning fourth place in the 2002 FIFA World Cup because this helped build the foundation for South Korean soccer and the cultural impact of this event and achievement continues to influence South Korea and South Korean soccer to this day.
What does being APA mean to you?
Being APA means being a part of a community of individuals who are proud of who they are and are always ready to help and motivate one another to grow and succeed.
If you could plan any event at USC, what would it be?
I would plan a 3-day music festival featuring Asian artists. Some of the artists that I would have at this music festival are Bruno Mars, BTS, Rich Brian, Far East Movement, and more.
What is your long-term goal for APASA?
My long-term goal for APASA is that it continues contributing to the APA community at USC and reaching more students every year.
Thank you Yunmi!
